REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd, has incorporated two new special purpose vehicles—Umred Power Transmission Ltd and Sakoli Power Transmission Ltd. These entities will execute intra-state transmission projects in Maharashtra, reinforcing REC’s role as a key infrastructure enabler in India’s power sector.
Key Highlights and Strategic Context:
The subsidiaries have been formed to implement high-voltage transmission infrastructure under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.
RECPDCL will act as the bid process coordinator for selecting transmission service providers, after which the SPVs will be transferred to the successful bidders.
The projects are expected to enhance grid reliability and support industrial growth in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region.
REC continues to deepen its presence in intra-state transmission, complementing its inter-state project portfolio and aligning with India’s energy transition goals.
