RITES Ltd, a premier transport infrastructure consultancy, and Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a leading public sector mining company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a robust and resilient supply chain for critical minerals in India. This partnership comes at a pivotal time as the nation accelerates its clean energy and manufacturing ambitions, which are heavily dependent on secure access to essential minerals.
Key Highlights:
The MoU aims to leverage RITES’ expertise in infrastructure and logistics with HCL’s mining and processing capabilities to strengthen India’s critical mineral value chain.
The collaboration will focus on exploration, mining, processing, and efficient transportation of critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements—vital for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and high-tech manufacturing.
This initiative aligns with India’s national strategy to reduce import dependence, especially as global supply chains face disruptions and price volatility.
The partnership will explore the establishment of integrated mineral processing parks, adoption of advanced beneficiation technologies, and development of digital platforms for transparent supply chain management.
By fostering public-private collaboration, the alliance seeks to accelerate capacity building, promote innovation in sustainable mining, and ensure environmental and social governance standards.
The move supports India’s broader goals under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and positions the country to play a leading role in the global critical minerals market.
