Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major electrification upgrade project awarded by South Central Railway. The contract, valued at approximately ₹242.5 crore, involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a new overhead equipment (OHE) system.
The project will modernize the existing 1×25kV system to a 2×25kV autotransformer feeding system, including feeder and earthing works. Covering the Ongole (OGL)–Gudur (GDR) section in the Vijayawada Division, the work spans 154 route kilometers (RKM) and 462 track kilometers (TKM). Execution is scheduled over 24 months, strengthening RVNL’s portfolio in railway infrastructure.
