India's iconic dairy brand Amul has formally entered the European market, launching its brand leader milk brand in Spain under a record-breaking partnership with Spain's Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP). The entry is a milestone in Amul's drive to go global and marks its intention to become a household brand in the European Union.
Key Highlights:
Amul's dairy products, beginning with its Gold full-cream milk in six-month shelf-life tetra packs, are now on sale in Madrid and Barcelona and will be made available in Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, Córdoba, and Lisbon in Portugal shortly.
The launching ceremony took place at the Embassy of India, Madrid, in the presence of Indian and Spanish government dignitaries, Amul senior officials, and COVAP senior officials.
This is the first time Amul fresh milk is entering Europe, following the brand's entry into the US market last year.
Amul's entry into Europe is a precursor to a broader strategy of launching its dairy products in other large EU markets such as Germany, Italy, and Switzerland in the near future.
Supported by more than 3.6 million Indian milk producers, Amul handles more than 12 billion liters of milk every year and has 112 dairy plants in India with a turnover of more than $11 billion.
COVAP, the most innovative European dairy cooperative, produces more than 400 million litres every year and ships to over 30 nations.
The tie-up aims to merge COVAP's technical experience and quality milk with the world-renowned brand of Amul, having a positive impact on Indian and Spanish dairy farmers.
The launch is in line with India's vision to make Amul a true international dairy brand and coincides with the International Year of Cooperatives in 2025 at the United Nations.
It is Amul fresh milk's first launch in Europe. We believe that Amul will find favor with Indians across the globe and demonstrate the strength of cooperation between dairy cooperatives.
