Tata Motors is getting ready to take its flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, to the next level with a more powerful 2.0L diesel engine. The company has secured full rights to Fiat’s well-known 2.0L Multijet diesel powertrain, which means they can now upgrade and manufacture this engine in-house for the very first time. This strategic decision gives Tata complete control over tuning, performance enhancements, and emission compliance, setting the stage for significant boosts in both power and efficiency.
Right now, the Harrier and Safari are equipped with the 2.0L Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine, which churns out 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. With these new rights, Tata is expected to elevate these numbers, delivering even more thrilling performance for driving enthusiasts while keeping the SUVs’ solid reliability and fuel economy intact. This upgrade also positions Tata to quickly adapt the engine to future emission standards and market needs, ensuring they stay competitive in the long run.
The Harrier and Safari continue to impress with their advanced features, including ADAS, connected technology, and premium comfort, and now they’re set to offer a more dynamic and refined driving experience. Fans can look forward to seeing the updated models in showrooms in the coming months, further solidifying Tata’s leadership in India’s SUV market.
