Sameer Rizvi’s Knockout Knock: Young Gun Steals IPL 2025 Spotlight vs PBKS

Sameer Rizvi, a 21-year-old batting prodigy, has become the talk of IPL 2025 after smashing a blistering unbeaten 58 off just 25 balls to help Delhi Capitals defeat Punjab Kings in their final league game. Rizvi’s innings, featuring three fours and five sixes, included the joint-fastest fifty for DC this season—reaching the milestone in just 22 balls—and earned him the Player of the Match award.

 

Rizvi, who debuted for Chennai Super Kings in 2024 but couldn't impress, was picked up by Delhi for INR 95 lakhs after a standout season for Kashi Rudras in the UPT20 League, where he scored 469 runs at a strike rate of 152.76. A six-hitting specialist and middle-order utility, he has played 32 T20 matches and has made 543 runs till now.

 

His winning performance against PBKS not only ended Delhi's four-match losing streak but also demonstrated his ability under pressure and sealing off games. Rizvi credited his success to hard work and increased confidence, saying, "I did not have the confidence before that I can play like this at this level, but after one innings, that came and now I feel I can do it".
