The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced a partnership with DigiLocker to address the issue of unclaimed assets in the securities market. Starting April 1, 2025, investors can store and access their demat holdings, mutual fund statements, and Consolidated Account Statements (CAS) through DigiLocker. This initiative aims to enhance investor protection by providing secure digital storage of financial documents. Additionally, SEBI has introduced a nomination facility allowing investors to appoint Data Access Nominees, ensuring smooth asset transition to legal heirs. This collaboration is expected to significantly reduce unclaimed assets and streamline the inheritance process in the Indian securities market.
