The PM Vishwakarma Yojana of the government is grabbing the headlines in 2025 by transforming the lives of age-old craftsmen and artisans in India. More than 29 lakh artisans of 18 such professions as carpenters, goldsmiths, cobblers, potters, tailors, and barbers have been benefited under this comprehensive scheme of upskilling and economically empowering the industry.
Recent Highlights
₹15,000 Toolkit Incentive:
A modern kit of that craft is purchased by all such registered artisans using an e-voucher worth ₹15,000 after compulsory skill training. The focus is to integrate modern technology into the traditional skill to enhance productivity and quality.
Comprehensive Skill Training:
Artisans are given 5–7 days of Basic Skill Training and 15 days or more of Advanced Training and are paid a stipend of ₹500 per training day. Training is given in both traditional know-how and new-age techniques so that artisans are at par with international standards.
Collateral-Free Loans:
Beneficiaries are eligible to borrow ₹3 lakh in two installments (₹1 lakh + ₹2 lakh) at a low 5% per annum interest rate with no collateral security for the loan for supporting business expansion and technology adoption by India's small workshops and family crafts.
Easy Application & Fast-Track Advantages:
The scheme is open to all toolwork and handwork craftsmen residing in rural and urban areas. Registration and tracking are totally online with district and Panchayat level validation and facilitation through Common Service Centres.
Digital & Marketing Boost:
Online shopping incentives (₹1 a transaction on the net, up to 100 a month), enablement of online sales, promotion of the brand, and quality certification are essential services, further mainstreaming artisans within the MSME economy.

With a five-year total expenditure of ₹13,000 to ₹15,000 crore, PM Vishwakarma Yojana is launching a new chapter for artisans – blending tradition and technology, providing them economic dignity, and connecting India's crafts with the global market.
