In a landmark gesture, the Andhra Pradesh government has rewarded rising cricket star Shree Charani with a ₹2.5 crore cash prize for her exceptional performance at the ICC Women’s One Day World Cup. Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh personally presented the cheque at his Undavalli residence, underscoring the state’s commitment to supporting women athletes.
Charani, a native of YSR Kadapa district, emerged as one of India’s brightest talents, taking 14 wickets and playing a decisive role in India’s historic World Cup victory. Beyond the cash reward, she has been allotted a 500-square-yard residential plot in Visakhapatnam and promised a Group-I government position, ensuring long-term recognition of her achievements.
