Shri Hare-Krishna Sponge Iron Limited, a key player in India’s sponge iron manufacturing sector, announced that commercial production at its Raipur-based facility will commence in January 2026. The plant has an annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes and is strategically located near essential raw material sources.
The company is currently in the process of setting up a 5 MW captive power plant intended to improve operational cost efficiencies and ensure reliable power supply. However, the commencement of this power plant project has been postponed due to procurement delays and other logistical challenges.
This postponement may temporarily affect operational efficiencies and cost structures in the near term. Nonetheless, management remains optimistic about ramping up sponge iron production to meet growing demand from steel manufacturers in the surrounding regions including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
