Mercedes-Benz India marks the first anniversary of its new Long Wheelbase (LWB) E-Class by introducing an exclusive new “Verde Silver” colour option and implementing price cuts under the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure. Since its launch in October 2024, the E-Class LWB has rapidly become a top-selling luxury sedan in India, winning nine prestigious awards including the coveted Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2024 Luxury Sedan title.
Key Highlights: Celebrate One Year of Excellence
The new Verde Silver paint, a sophisticated metallic green-silver blend, is available across all three E-Class LWB variants: E200, E220d, and E450 4MATIC AMG Line.
The special edition adds freshness to the model’s elegant appeal, reinforcing Mercedes’ tradition of premium design coupled with exclusivity.
The E-Class LWB has clocked over 62,000 units on Indian roads within a year, popular for its blend of luxury, spaciousness, and digitally advanced features.
Prices have been slashed by up to ₹6 lakh across variants, passing on significant benefits to buyers following the GST 2.0 reforms.
Pricing and GST Impact
Post-GST 2.0, the E-Class pricing (ex-showroom) stands at:
E200: ₹78.5 lakh
E220d: ₹80.5 lakh
E450 4MATIC AMG Line: ₹91.7 lakh
The previous variant prices were higher, for example, the E450 4MATIC AMG Line was prior priced close to ₹97 lakh ex-showroom.
Similarly, the GLE 450 4MATIC also sees a price reduction from ₹1.15 crore to ₹1.07 crore, representing luxury customers’ opportunity to save significantly.
Technological and Comfort Innovations
The E-Class is equipped with the third-generation MBUX Superscreen featuring AI-powered personalization, zero-layer functionality, and five customizable display styles.
AI-driven “Routines” automate frequently used comforts like seat position, climate control, and ambient lighting settings.
Rear-seat luxury includes electric seat recline up to 36 degrees, extendable thigh support, sun blinds, and comfort pillows, creating a relaxation pod on wheels.
Audio enthusiasts benefit from the Burmester 4D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos technology, delivering 730 watts through 17 speakers and four exciters.
For added connectivity, a selfie camera enables in-car video calling via the Vivaldi browser, blending entertainment with convenience.
Safety and Driving Dynamics
Advanced safety features include eight airbags, including a segment first center airbag for rear occupant protection.
Additional aids include Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe system, driver knee airbags, and enhanced crash protection to uphold Mercedes-Benz’s legacy in safety.
The Enhanced Agility Control Suspension is tuned specifically for Indian road conditions, balancing comfort and stability over challenging urban and rural terrains.
Mercedes-Benz India Executive Statement
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, expressed gratitude to Indian customers, saying, “The New LWB E-Class has become the most desirable luxury car in our country—this is thanks to the unwavering support of our discerning customers. Introducing the new Verde Silver colour along with price benefits reflects our dedication to offering the best in modern luxury tailored for India.”
Looking Ahead
With the blend of fresh aesthetics, competitive pricing, and cutting-edge tech, the E-Class LWB is primed for continued leadership in India’s luxury sedan segment.
The ongoing localization of production at Chakan, Pune, promises cost efficiencies and faster deliveries to meet growing demand.
As GST reforms continue to simplify taxation and reduce prices for premium vehicles, buyers are likely to witness increased value without compromise on luxury or performance.
Conclusion
Mercedes-Benz India’s unveiling of the Verde Silver edition of the E-Class LWB and strategic price cuts post-GST 2.0 mark a powerful statement of luxury innovation meeting consumer benefits. In just one year, the E-Class LWB has set new milestones in comfort, technology, and market success—now rejuvenated with a stunning colour and more accessible pricing, it invites luxury enthusiasts to experience driving elegance at an attractive new value proposition.
