SpiceJet has expanded its operational fleet by inducting three new aircraft — one wide-body Airbus A340 and two Boeing 737 jets. This move forms part of the airline’s ambitious growth strategy aimed at boosting capacity, enhancing network connectivity, and meeting rising passenger demand across domestic and international routes.
Gurugram-based low-cost carrier SpiceJet has taken a decisive step in its fleet expansion by adding three new aircraft to its operational lineup, including a significant wide-body Airbus A340 and two Boeing 737 narrow-body aircraft. This development marks a key phase in SpiceJet’s growth ambitions to serve increasing passenger traffic and extend its domestic and international presence.
The Airbus A340 induction represents a milestone for SpiceJet, as the wide-body jet is ideally suited for long-haul, high-capacity routes. The A340 will initially operate under a wet lease agreement, which includes crew, maintenance, and insurance, thus offering SpiceJet operational flexibility and cost-efficiency. The airline is also in advanced talks to lease a second A340 to further augment its capacity and network reach.
Alongside the A340, SpiceJet has welcomed two Boeing 737 aircraft to cater to its growing demand on short and medium-haul sectors. The Boeing 737s, known for their fuel efficiency and operational reliability, will support increased flight frequencies and new route launches during the upcoming winter season.
This fleet enhancement accompanies SpiceJet’s broader plans, which include adding a total of 18 Boeing 737 aircraft—including four Boeing 737 MAX jets—expected to join from October 2025 onward. These additions position SpiceJet to meet seasonal surges, expand connectivity, and improve passenger experience with modern aircraft.
