The UAE Embassy in New Delhi has recently declared a comprehensive expansion of its visa-on-arrival policy for Indian citizens, one of the main drivers of trade, travel, and family travel between India and the UAE. The new regulations, which come into effect from February 13, 2025, bring in additional eligibility, increased stay, and easier processes for millions of Indian tourists.

Key Highlights
Expanded Eligibility:
Indian nationals holding valid visas, residence visas, or six other nations' Green Cards, including Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, are now eligible for UAE visas on arrival at all airports.
This does not include people who have legitimate documents from the US, UK, and the EU.

Visa-on-Arrival Details:
  • Eligible travelers receive a 14-day visa on arrival, extendable for another 14 days for a fee (Dh250).
  • There is also a Dh250 60-day visa, which provides scope for extended stays.
  • Applicants must provide a six-month-old or older valid regular passport and present the respective visa fee (Dh100 for 14 days).
  • New 90-Day Multiple-Entry Visa
  • The UAE further introduced a 90-day multiple-entry visa without a local sponsor, extendable up to 180 days a year. The visa can be obtained by tourists, business visitors, and family visitors, through an e-application and within a 5–7 business day processing time.
Purpose and Effect:
  • The new policy is aimed at boosting bilateral relations, attracting professional specialists, and expanding economic cooperation between the UAE and India.
  • It provides easier travel for Indian citizens and their families, and introduces the UAE to tourism, trade, and employment.
  • The step is also aimed at further consolidating the UAE position as an international tourism, business, and cultural exchange center.
Additional Notes:

Indian visa-free official and diplomatic passport holders continue to be entitled to visa-free stays of a maximum of 90 days under existing arrangements.

Indian visitors residing in Dubai with their families must present additional documentation, such as the sponsor's rental contract and Emirates ID, because of new local regulations. This historical visa reform is an indication of the UAE's ongoing interest in global connectivity and its special bond with India, which has one of the Emirates' largest expatriate populations.
