Every year, investors bet big on summer stocks—air conditioners, beverages, ice creams, and amusement parks—expecting a seasonal surge. But 2025 hasn’t followed the script. Unseasonal rainfall and delayed heatwaves have cooled demand, leaving stocks like Blue Star, Voltas, Varun Beverages, Havells, Dixon, Vadilal, Wonderla, and Amber struggling.
Key Highlights:
• Cooling product sales lag: Blue Star and Dixon Technologies have dropped 10–11%, while Havells and Orient Electric are down 4%.
• Soft drinks and ice creams take a hit: Varun Beverages, PepsiCo’s bottler, is down 9%, and Vadilal Industries has tanked 16%, partly due to a promoter conflict.
• Amusement parks see lower footfall: Wonderla Holidays has dipped 6%, as unpredictable weather affects visitor numbers.
Outlook:
Despite early setbacks, companies remain optimistic. Blue Star expects momentum to pick up in May and June, while Varun Beverages anticipates double-digit growth over time. Investors should watch for weather stabilization and consumer demand recovery before making portfolio decisions.
