In a significant step towards promoting hygiene and sustainability, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has introduced the Swachh School Ranking Initiative. The program, formally launched by Mayor Saurabh Joshi at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38, will assess both government and private schools on multiple cleanliness and eco-friendly indicators.
Mayor Joshi emphasized that schools are the foundation of a clean society, and nurturing responsible habits among students is key to long-term success in the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The initiative also prepares Chandigarh for the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2026, where citizen participation and institutional efforts play a crucial role.
