Sweet Success: UP’s Dussehri Mangoes Land in Dubai for the First Time

Big news for mango lovers: Uttar Pradesh’s famous Dussehri mango is finally getting its moment on the international stage. For the first time, a shipment of these sweet, juicy mangoes has been sent directly from Lucknow to Dubai, marking a proud moment for local farmers.

Here’s what makes this special:

The first batch was pretty impressive—1,200 kilograms of Dussehri mangoes, carefully packed in 400 boxes, were flown out to Dubai. That’s a lot of mangoes!

This isn’t just about sending fruit abroad. For the first time, local farmer groups in Lucknow organized and managed the export themselves, with help from the Indo-German AMD Project. That means more profits go straight to the people who grow the fruit.

The state government has been working to modernize packing facilities and help farmers meet international standards, so the mangoes arrive fresh and in perfect shape.

This shipment was flagged off by Dinesh Pratap Singh, the state’s Minister for Horticulture, who called it a big step for the region’s agriculture.

Officials say this is just the beginning. The hope is that more international orders will follow, giving UP’s mango growers a real boost and putting Dussehri mangoes on the world map.

For the farmers, it’s a chance to earn better incomes and take pride in seeing their fruit enjoyed far beyond India.
