Tata Elxsi Ltd has announced a strategic collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to advance vehicle engineering and software-defined vehicle (SDV) development. This partnership is poised to revolutionize the automotive landscape, blending Tata Elxsi’s prowess in digital engineering with Mercedes-Benz’s innovation leadership to drive the next wave of intelligent, connected, and software-centric vehicles.

Key Highlights:

Global Engineering Centre: Tata Elxsi will establish a dedicated Global Engineering Centre focused on SDV platforms, electrification, body and chassis engineering, and cloud-native development. This hub will serve as the backbone for Mercedes-Benz’s unified technology stack, including proprietary operating systems, electronic architectures, and automotive cloud infrastructure.
Software-Defined Vehicle Innovation: The collaboration will leverage Tata Elxsi’s AVENIR™ framework-a cloud-agnostic SDV development, validation, and deployment platform. AVENIR™ enables modular software engineering, seamless platform integration, and supports both cloud-native and edge deployments, ensuring vehicles are always up-to-date and feature-rich.
Connected and Autonomous Capabilities: Tata Elxsi’s TETHER Connected Vehicle Platform and AUTONOMAI ADAS suite will empower Mercedes-Benz vehicles with advanced data collection, over-the-air updates, real-time analytics, and autonomous driving features, while maintaining robust cybersecurity standards.
Scalable and Sustainable Engineering: The partnership will streamline the transition to zonal and centralized vehicle architectures, reduce per-vehicle costs, and enable new revenue streams through on-demand digital services. Tata Elxsi’s expertise in electrification, infotainment, and cybersecurity further strengthens the collaboration’s impact.
