Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has called for India to develop its own "India AI stack" to harness the transformative potential of artificial intelligence. Speaking at the Mumbai Tech Week 2025, Chandrasekaran outlined four key pillars crucial for India's AI-driven future: foundational, basic research, capability, and governance layers. He emphasized the importance of sovereign AI capabilities to prevent digital colonialism and leverage India's unique advantages in data resources and digital infrastructure. Chandrasekaran also revealed that the Tata Group is developing AI projects including AI agents, robotics, and virtual workers. The chairman stressed the need for India to be independent in AI development to become a frontrunner in the global AI race.
