Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed that Kaithi 2 will mark a turning point in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), with the introduction of 2–3 powerful female characters, including what may be the franchise’s first female superhero. Known for its gritty, male-dominated narratives—Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo—the LCU is now poised to embrace a more inclusive and emotionally layered storytelling approach.

What Lokesh Revealed:

- In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Lokesh shared that he is currently writing new roles specifically for women, calling them “new characters to the LCU universe”

- These characters will be teased or introduced in Kaithi 2, which begins production after the release of Coolie

- While casting details remain under wraps, Anushka Shetty is confirmed to join the sequel in a bold role, reportedly as Karthi’s wife—a character absent from the original Kaithi

LCU’s Expanding Landscape:

- Kaithi 2 will continue the story of Dilli (Karthi), while deepening the emotional stakes through new female perspectives

- Lokesh is also producing Benz, directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, starring Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly—marking the first LCU film not helmed by Lokesh himself
