Acclaimed director Nitesh Tiwari has recently spoken of his motivational path from a graduate of IIT Bombay to one of the most acclaimed directors of Indian cinema on Komal Nahta's Game Changers podcast. Behind hits such as Dangal and Chhichhore, Tiwari has spoken about how his passion for creativity began during his engineering studies.
Tiwari has shared that his experience at IIT Bombay awakened his love for creativity. He was an active participant in hostel competitions, coming up with creative plays and performances that sharpened his storytelling skills. Though academically talented, he came to understand that his calling was in the creative field.
Having graduated in Metallurgical Engineering, Tiwari worked as a software developer for a short while but didn't find it very fulfilling. He vowed to continue with his passion and moved into the world of advertising, where he was Chief Creative Officer at Leo Burnett before making the move into film-making.
On the podcast, Tiwari also discussed the challenges of convincing actors like Aamir Khan for pivotal roles and emphasized the importance of empowering writers and technicians in the film industry. His journey exemplifies the courage to follow one's dreams against societal expectations.
