Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan emphasized making the handloom and handicraft products popular on a priority basis, tasking the officials with preparing promotion videos showcasing the rich handicraft culture of the state.
These videos will be posted on social media sites to get more views and re-spark interest in the heritage product.
Support for Artisans
Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation is implementing a centrally-funded scheme of ₹23.38 crore to assist weavers and artisans.
840 craftsmen have been aided by the scheme in the last year, being given improved toolkits to improve their work.
Infrastructure and Market Expansion
The three grand emporia Delhi, Dharamshala, and Manali have been refurbished by the government, and refurbishment is currently underway in Chamba and Shimla.
A showroom is to be set up in Chandigarh, increasing market coverage for Himachal's products.
Conserving Heritage
Chauhan emphasized the need for regular training programs to maintain traditional skills in danger of becoming obsolete.
The firm has conducted 120 design workshops and 20 entrepreneur development programs that have positively impacted 2,500 artisans.
Looking Ahead The scheme has a vision to build the handicraft industry, generating sustainable incomes for artisans and improving Himachal's cultural economy.
