China's Ministry of Commerce has declared the imposition of anti-dumping duties on cypermethrin imports from India, effective from January 8, 2025. The action comes after a thorough investigation that established Indian exporters selling cypermethrin at below fair market value, resulting in serious injury to China's domestic industry.

Key Highlights:
  • The anti-dumping duties oblige importers of Indian cypermethrin to deposit money at rates set for each firm from January 8, 2025. The deposits are provisional duties until the investigation is complete.
  • China's investigation concluded dumping of Indian cypermethrin had caused significant injury to domestic producers, leading to the immediate trade protection measures.
Cypermethrin is a pyrethroid synthetic insecticide, essential for pest management in cotton, vegetables, corn, and flowers crops and also for use in sanitation. The new duties will be felt by Indian exports and may hit farmers' incomes in both countries because of the possible price change and supply chain disruption.

The investigation and responsibilities encompass cypermethrin technical and their preparations, falling under China's tariff number 29269090. Cypermethrin from India is the only product to come under this ruling.
  • All stakeholders have 10 days to make comments or objections to the Chinese government on the provisional ruling.
  • The anti-dumping charges are for a provisional period, subject to extension or amendment upon the release of the final investigation findings.
