In a sweeping celebration of national pride, Uttar Pradesh has launched its most ambitious Har Ghar Tiranga campaign yet, aiming to hoist a staggering 4.60 crore flags across homes, institutions, and public spaces between August 2 and August 15, 2025. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the campaign is designed to evoke a deep sense of patriotism and unity among citizens in the lead-up to India’s 79th Independence Day.
Three-Phase Rollout Strategy
The campaign is structured into three distinct phases, each with its own focus and outreach strategy:
1. Phase One (August 2–8):
- School and community engagement through exhibitions, rangoli contests, and workshops
- Tiranga-themed decorations in educational institutions and public areas
- Awareness drives to educate citizens on the significance of the national flag
2. Phase Two (August 9–12):
- District-level fairs and cultural programs
- Tiranga rallies, public outreach stalls, and selfie booths
- Interactive events to encourage mass participation and visibility
3. Phase Three (August 13–15):
- Widespread flag hoisting across homes, offices, and vehicles
- Tricolour lighting of government buildings, bridges, and major landmarks
- Citizens encouraged to upload selfies with the flag on harghartiranga.com
Production and Sustainability Measures
To meet the massive demand, the state has mobilized its rural and urban livelihood missions:
- 2.60 crore new flags are being produced by self-help groups under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM)
- An additional 2 crore flags from previous years will be reused to promote sustainability and commemorate past participation
This dual approach not only ensures wide coverage but also supports local artisans and women-led enterprises.
Government Oversight and Civic Mobilization
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called upon citizens to actively participate, emphasizing that the national flag is a symbol of collective pride and identity. The state government has issued detailed implementation guidelines to all District Magistrates to ensure disciplined execution and broad engagement.
Culture and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh described the campaign as a civic movement rooted in emotional and cultural significance. The goal is not just visibility but meaningful reach, especially in rural households, schools, and local businesses.
Emotional Resonance and Public Participation
The campaign taps into the emotional legacy of the tricolour, aiming to transform the act of flag hoisting from a ceremonial gesture into a personal expression of patriotism. Citizens are encouraged to:
- Host community events and flag hoisting ceremonies
- Share stories and memories associated with the national flag
- Participate in creative contests and cultural showcases
Digital platforms are being leveraged to amplify participation, with selfie uploads and digital certificates adding a modern twist to traditional celebrations.
Looking Ahead
With logistics finalized and production underway, Uttar Pradesh is poised to set a new benchmark in patriotic engagement. The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is more than a symbolic act—it’s a vibrant expression of unity, pride, and the enduring spirit of independence.
