VA Tech Wabag Ltd has announced that a developer consortium it is part of has been declared the preferred bidder by Saudi Water Partnership Company for a major water project. The selection marks another important international win for the Indian water-tech specialist, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing Middle East desalination and utilities market.
VA Tech Wabag is set to deepen its footprint in Saudi Arabia after a consortium including the company was named preferred bidder by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC). The mandate relates to the development of a large-scale water infrastructure project under the kingdom’s public-private partnership framework, and follows a competitive bidding process involving global players.
Being adjudged preferred bidder allows the Wabag-led grouping to move into the next stage of negotiations with SWPC, including finalisation of project agreements and financing structures. The project is expected to add significantly to Wabag’s international order pipeline, reinforce its credentials in desalination and wastewater treatment, and provide longer-term, annuity-style revenue visibility once commercial operations begin.
