Vikrant Massey’s film choices have always been interesting, and his box office journey is just as varied. If you’ve followed his career from TV to movies, you know he’s not afraid to take risks—sometimes it pays off big, sometimes not so much.

The Standouts and Surprises
His biggest win so far is definitely 12th Fail. This film quietly built momentum and ended up earning over Rs 51 crore in India, with global collections crossing Rs 66 crore. It’s the kind of underdog story—both on screen and at the box office—that audiences love.

Then there’s Chhapaak, where Vikrant starred alongside Deepika Padukone. The film opened strong at nearly Rs 5 crore but fizzled out, finishing at around Rs 32.5 crore. Despite a lot of buzz and critical attention, it just didn’t connect with enough viewers.

The Sabarmati Report had a decent start and some initial curiosity, but it wrapped up with about Rs 31 crore, which is respectable but not a blockbuster. His latest, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, has struggled to find an audience, opening at just Rs 35 lakh and bringing in Rs 73 lakh over its first two days.

What’s Behind These Numbers?
A lot depends on word-of-mouth, timing, and what else is playing in theaters. 12th Fail grew because people kept recommending it. Others, like Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, just didn’t get that same push.

The Takeaway
Vikrant Massey’s career is proof that box office success isn’t always predictable. He’s built a reputation for picking challenging, meaningful roles—even if the numbers don’t always go his way. And that’s why audiences (and filmmakers) keep coming back to see what he’ll do next.
