Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched its 5G services in the Delhi-NCR circle from today, May 15, as part of the phased roll-out of 5G in the country by the company. Delhi-NCR is the fourth city after Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna to see the launch of Vi's 5G network in recent months.

The 5G launch by the company is a part of a huge plan to cover all 17 priority circle-regions in which Vi has bought 5G frequency-by August 2025. Bengaluru and Mysuru are the next two cities to witness the action, with launches already initiated in other major markets.

As part of its launch offer, Vi is offering unlimited data of 5G to subscribers of 5G smartphones on plans of Rs 299 and above. Delhi-NCR subscribers can now experience improved streaming, gaming, video conferencing, high-speed downloads, and real-time cloud applications.

To power its 5G network in the capital city, Vi has partnered with Ericsson, employing smart Massive MIMO radios and lower power, lighter hardware. The company has also applied AI-driven Self-Organising Network (SON) technology to boost network performance and deployed a 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) architecture to ensure seamless handovers from 4G to 5G for customers.

This mass-scale launch is a part of Vi's three-year Rs 55,000 crore capital investment plan, to create a future-proof, high-capacity network to address India's increasing digital needs. In Mumbai, where Vi's 5G is already live, 70% of the eligible customers are taking the new service, with 20% of the city's data traffic now on the 5G network.

With its launch today, Vodafone Idea is reiterating its commitment to bringing next-generation connectivity and powering India's digital growth.
