Waaree Energies Ltd took a significant leap forward in its clean energy manufacturing capabilities with key approvals from its Board of Directors at the meeting held on October 1, 2025. The company decided to substantially ramp up capacities and capital expenditures in its wholly owned subsidiaries in battery storage, electrolyser production, and solar inverter manufacturing.
Key Highlights of Capacity Expansion and Investment
1. Battery Storage Boost:
-
The Lithium Ion Advanced Chemistry Storage Cell and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing plant capacity will increase drastically from 3.5 GWh to 20 GWh.
-
This expansion is driven through the subsidiary Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Private Limited.
-
An additional capital expenditure of approximately Rs 8,000 crore has been committed to achieve this scale-up.
2. Electrolyser Manufacturing Scale-Up:
-
Capacity of the electrolyser manufacturing plant, essential for green hydrogen production, is set to increase from the initial 300 MW to 1,000 MW annual production.
-
This facility expansion is under Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Private Limited.
-
An additional investment of Rs 125 crore will support this growth, reinforcing the company’s position in hydrogen technology.
3. Solar Inverter Capacity Enhancement:
-
The production capacity of the inverter manufacturing plant will grow from 3 GW to 4 GW.
-
This will be achieved by Waaree Power Private Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary focused on power electronics.
-
A further Capex of Rs 50 crore is allocated to support this expansion.
These strategic growth plans underscore Waaree Energies’ commitment to strengthening its portfolio across the renewable energy value chain — from advanced battery storage solutions and green hydrogen electrolysers to critical power electronics for solar infrastructure. The company's aggressive investment reflects the rising demand for sustainable energy technologies in India’s growing clean energy market.
This news, as announced today, marks a pivotal moment as Waaree prepares to significantly scale manufacturing output, positioning itself as a comprehensive clean energy solutions provider with robust capabilities in emerging energy storage and green hydrogen sectors.
