GE Vernova T&D India Limited has secured a major order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) to provide over 70 additional high-voltage 765 kV shunt reactors and transformers. The order forms the center of POWERGRID's bulk procurement program focused on quickly scaling up India's renewable power transmission infrastructure through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) scheme.

The contract, worth around ₹500 crore ($57 million), includes the supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of these key power equipment units. The manufacturing will be done at GE Vernova's cutting-edge transformer factory in Vadodara, Gujarat, which has been making 765 kV class transformers and reactors since 2009 and has already delivered more than 700 such units across the country. Deliveries are to start in 2026 and extend up to 2027.

The new reactors and transformers will be at the center of consolidating high-capacity renewable power corridors in crucial states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. The corridors are vital to incorporating high quantities of renewable energy into India's national grid and helping the nation achieve its clean energy goals.
