While the globe welcomes the energetic chirps of summer migratory birds, woodlands all over the world are being converted into teeming centers of bird activity. Below are the major highlights from recent releases:
-
Nepal's Summer Guests: Thousands of miles are covered by birds such as the Asian koel, which comes from more than 6,000 miles away from Sub-Saharan Africa, and the blue-tailed bee-eater, which comes from Thailand. These birds come mostly to breed and bring up their young in Nepal's pleasant climate.
-
U.S. Spring Migration: Spring bird migration in the United States is at its peak, with the main activity predicted to occur in April. Radar monitoring shows enormous migrations, with as many as 500 million birds traveling under the cover of night. Species such as the ruby-crowned kinglet and eastern phoebe are dominant during the migration.
