Poetry as Justice: Javed Akhtar Critiques Right-Wing Contributions

Renowned lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar recently shared his perspective on the transformative power of poetry, describing it as the "language of justice." Speaking at the Samashti Arts and Literature Festival in Mumbai, Akhtar emphasized poetry's role in advocating for equality and societal harmony. He highlighted how poetry inherently aligns with values of love, peace, and justice, making it a medium that transcends political ideologies.  

Akhtar also critiqued the right-wing's inability to produce influential poets, attributing it to the ideological disconnect with the universal values that poetry embodies. He celebrated the works of poets like Namdeo Dhasal, whose writings championed social justice and equality, underscoring the enduring relevance of poetic expression in addressing societal issues.  

The festival, dedicated to the memory of Namdeo Dhasal, also featured discussions on the intersection of art, culture, and justice, with notable speakers highlighting the inclusive impact of cultural expressions.
