River Rides the Wave: E-Scooter Maker to Flood India with 12 New Stores

River, an electric scooter maker based in Bengaluru, plans to rapidly grow its retail footprint in India. The company said today that it will add 12 new stores by the end of March, increasing the total number of stores to 25 around the country. River's rapid growth follows the opening of the new River Store Sathuvachari in Vellore, a 1,900 sq ft store in collaboration with Mahalakshmi Motors. River now has 13 stores in major cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The new stores will be in Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupur, Belgaum, and Pune, among others. In addition, River also launched its electric scooter called the 'Indie' in Vellore. The 'Indie' is priced at Rs 1,42,999 (ex-showroom). River wants to develop its position in the market through its rapid expansion plans, with help of leading investors such as Yamaha Motor Corporation and Mitsui & Co Ltd.
