Air India has announced the reinstatement of its codeshare agreement with fellow Star Alliance member Air Canada, effective December 2, 2025. This renewed partnership marks a significant boost for India-Canada air connectivity, providing travelers with expanded flight options, convenient seamless travel, and more efficient access across both airlines' networks.

 

The codeshare pact allows Air India to place its ‘AI’ designator code on Air Canada-operated flights to six Canadian cities beyond its gateways at Vancouver and London Heathrow. These routes include Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, and Halifax from Vancouver, and Vancouver and Calgary from London Heathrow. Conversely, Air Canada customers can easily connect to Indian cities such as Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kochi via Delhi, and Delhi and Mumbai via London Heathrow.

 

With over two million people traveling annually between India and Canada for purposes ranging from family reunions to business and education, this partnership promises to ease journeys for thousands each day. Passengers will benefit from single-ticket convenience, unified baggage allowance, and the loyalty program benefits across both networks. Moreover, elite members of Air India’s Maharaja Club will continue enjoying Star Alliance Gold privileges on Air Canada flights, including priority services and lounge access.
