Sky High Momentum: IndiGo Dominates, Air India Surges, Akasa & SpiceJet Stay Steady

India’s domestic aviation sector continues its upward trajectory in 2025, despite a slight dip in August traffic. According to DGCA’s latest report:

1. IndiGo remains the market leader with 83.14 lakh passengers and a 64.2% share in August, slightly down from July’s 65.2%.
2. Air India Group (Air India + Air India Express) gained momentum, reaching a 27.3% market share with 35.39 lakh passengers.
3. Akasa Air held third place, flying 7.03 lakh passengers and securing a 5.4% share.
4. SpiceJet maintained its position with 2.60 lakh passengers and a 2% market share.
5. Load factors were strong: Akasa Air led at 91%, followed by SpiceJet (87%), IndiGo (84.6%), and Air India Group (81.8%).
6. Bengaluru and Chennai airports topped on-time performance at 93% and 92.5% respectively.
