Acme Solar Holdings has installed an additional 33.333 MW/160.512 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Phalodi, Jodhpur project in Rajasthan. The new block, built by its all-ownership subsidiary Acme Sun Power, further advances the company's progress in grid-scale storage, which is essential to 24/7 renewable energy.

The company has announced the commissioning of the new BESS capacity at Village Badi Sid, Tehsil Bap on June 1, 2026 and the commencement of commercial operations on June 3, 2026 in a regulatory update. This is the latest in a series of milestones that has seen Acme Sun Power's total commissioned battery storage portfolio in the site soar, further solidifying Acme's presence in India's emerging energy storage market.

Project Scale And Technical Milestone

Post this commissioning, Acme Sun Power now operates 266.669 MW/1283.936 MWh of battery storage capacity at the Phalodi–Jodhpur location. The configuration highlights the high duration storage aspect, which will facilitate better integration of solar power, peak-shaving, and grid balancing services for utilities and large consumers.

Strategic Push Into Energy Storage

The expansion marks a conscious move for Acme Solar to expand its business from just solar IPP to a wider range of clean energy and storage solutions. With policy support for battery storage on the rise, this commissioned BESS project puts the company in a strong position to access ancillary services, capacity markets and firm renewable power contracts.
