Streaming Streak: JioHotstar Lights Up a Billion Screens with 100M Dreams

India's streaming scene has been transformed with JioHotstar, the newly combined entity of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema, crossing 100 million paid subscribers in only two months. This puts JioHotstar on top as the biggest OTT platform in India, ahead of global giants Netflix and Prime Video with 15 million and 18 million subscribers respectively.

The integration, led by Reliance Industries and Disney as JioStar, has brought about a content giant with more than 3 lakh hours of entertainment including Hollywood hits, TV programming, and original sports like IPL and ICC events. Strategic tie-ups with telecom providers like Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have additionally propelled subscriber increases with reasonable rate plans starting from a mere ₹100.
