Sundance 2025: A War Satire and Heartfelt Family Drama Take Center Stage with Historic Wins

At the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, two films captivated audiences and judges alike: the American war satire Atropia and the poignant Indian family drama Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears). Atropia, directed by Hailey Gates, won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize for its sharp critique of military simulations, while Sabar Bonda claimed the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize, marking a historic win as the first Marathi film to achieve this honor.
