Svitolina and Swiatek Move into Indian Wells Quarterfinals

Elina Svitolina and Iga Swiatek have both made it to the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells tournament. Svitolina, who is 23rd seeded, came through a tough match against American fourth seed Jessica Pegula, winning 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. Her win was characterized by grit, as she fought through a close to three-hour rain interruption. Defending champion Iga Swiatek, on the other hand, swept Karolina Muchova aside with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory. Swiatek has lost just six games during her matches, an indication of her great form. She is looking to become the first woman to win the Indian Wells title for the third time. Svitolina will match up against Mirra Andreeva, while Swiatek will face Zheng Qinwen in the quarterfinals.
