Sweeping Mars Views Captured By NASA’s Curiosity And Perseverance Rovers

Separated by nearly 2,345 miles, the rovers are exploring terrains billions of years old. Curiosity, now 15 years into its mission, continues its climb up Mount Sharp, while Perseverance, five years on Mars, investigates Jezero Crater’s ancient landscapes. Together, they are piecing together Mars’ evolutionary timeline.  

Curiosity’s Panorama  

Between November and December 2025, Curiosity stitched over 1,000 images into a 1.5-billion-pixel panorama. The view reveals intricate boxwork formations-erosion-resistant ridges formed by groundwater flowing through fractures in bedrock-providing evidence of Mars’ dynamic past.  

Perseverance’s Panorama  

Captured between December 2025 and January 2026, Perseverance’s panorama consists of nearly 1,000 images of a region nicknamed “Lac de Charmes.” The sweeping view highlights ancient rocks and crater rims, offering clues about Mars’ earliest environments.  

Scientific Significance  

By exploring terrains of different ages, the rovers are helping scientists understand Mars’ transition from a wetter planet to its current arid state. Their findings guide future missions in the search for biosignatures and potential habitability.
