Honda has launched the NX500 E Clutch in India at Rs 7,43,900 ex showroom, making it about Rs 1.11 lakh costlier than the standard manual clutch version. For buyers tempted by the convenience of clutchless shifting, a new EMI guide shows how monthly payments can start around Rs 20,000 depending on down payment, loan tenure and interest rate.
The NX500 E Clutch is Honda’s latest mid weight adventure bike, now fitted with an electronically controlled clutch that lets you ride and shift gears without touching the lever in most situations. The tech is tempting, but the price jump is significant. A detailed finance breakdown from Hindustan Times and partner calculators helps you gauge what the bike will really cost per month if you opt for a loan.
E Clutch Tech At A Premium
Honda has priced the NX500 E Clutch at Rs 7,43,900 ex showroom India, roughly Rs 1.11 lakh more than the conventional clutch variant.
The bike retains the 471cc liquid cooled parallel twin engine making about 46.9 bhp and 43 Nm, but adds Honda’s E Clutch system that uses electronic actuators to manage clutch engagement during starts, stops and gearshifts so you only work the gear pedal.
Sample Loan, Tenure And Interest
BikeDekho’s EMI calculator example, cited in the Hindustan Times guide, assumes an on road price of about Rs 7.34 lakh in Delhi and a 10 percent down payment.
On that basis, a loan of roughly Rs 6.61 lakh at an interest rate near 6 percent for 36 months results in an EMI of about Rs 20,126 per month, with total interest payable around Rs 62,985 over the tenure.
How Changing Inputs Alters Emi
If you increase your down payment, the principal falls and so does the EMI; for instance, putting 20 percent down instead of 10 percent reduces the loan amount and could pull the EMI closer to the mid Rs 17,000 to 18,000 range on similar terms.
Stretching the tenure to 48 or 60 months can lower the monthly outgo further but increases total interest paid, while a higher interest rate from some banks or NBFCs will push the EMI above the Rs 20,000 mark even with the same principal.
Things To Check Before You Sign
Finance experts quoted in these guides advise prospective NX500 E Clutch buyers to account for processing fees, hypothecation charges and mandatory insurance and accessories, which raise the effective on road cost above the ex showroom tag.
They also recommend comparing offers from at least two to three lenders, checking for prepayment penalties and ensuring the EMI does not stress monthly cash flows once fuel, riding gear, maintenance and insurance renewals are factored in.
