Synchronizing Democracy: The 'One Nation, One Election' Debate

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has criticized the "One Nation, One Election" plan on the grounds of possible centralization of politics and manipulation of public opinion. Opponents have claimed that concurrent elections would eclipse local issues and benefit national parties at the expense of regional ones. This could result in political homogenization, marginalizing local voices. The plan calls for constitutional amendments and has drawn opposition from various regional parties. Notwithstanding these obstacles, the government is still interested in pursuing the plan to rationalize governance and cut election expenses.
