Thrissur Pooram 2026 Commences With Flag Hoisting, Awaits Spectacular April 26 Festivities

Thrissur Pooram, Kerala’s most celebrated temple festival, officially commenced with Kodiyettam (flag hoisting) on April 20, 2026. Thousands of devotees gathered at Vadakkunnathan Temple and surrounding shrines to witness the ceremonial start of the festivities.

The flag hoisting was conducted at Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu temples, the two principal participants, as well as eight constituent temples including Kanimangalam Sasta, Chembukkavu Karthyayani, Panamukkumpilly Sasta, Pookkattikkara Karamukku Bhagavathy, Choorakottukavu Bhagavathy, Laloor Karthyayani, Ayyanthole Karthyayani, and Kuttoor Neythalakkavu Bhagavathy. The ritual marks the formal beginning of Pooram celebrations.
