Tripura Launches Mega Nursing Recruitment: 432 New Heroes Set to Transform State Healthcare

The Tripura government has initiated a major recruitment process to appoint 432 nursing personnel to improve healthcare services in the state. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced this at the International Nurses Day programme at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, emphasizing the crucial role that nurses as frontline caregivers have to play.

Main points of the announcement:

Out of 432 nursing posts, 332 will be permanent and 100 will be contractual. Both the strategies are aimed at strengthening the medical force at a fast pace and filling the urgent requirements of the healthcare units.

Finance Department has already sanctioned the required funds for the above recruitments, thereby avoiding any delay in the process of hiring.

The Chief Minister added that 153 nurses were hired in 2024, demonstrating the government's continued efforts to enhance the patient-nurse ratio and maximize deployment throughout the state.

Dr. Saha underscored the role of nurses in the healthcare process, calling them the backbone of patient care who perform key functions such as checking the vitals, medicating, and rendering crucial support even before the doctor reaches the patient.

The recruitment campaign is consistent with this year's International Nurses Day theme of making the nursing career more desirable and economically viable, and the health, safety, and welfare of nursing personnel.

The state has also invested in strengthening its medical education infrastructure. The Agartala Nursing Training Institute has been raised to the level of Agartala Government Nursing College, which provides B.Sc Nursing courses, while ANM Nursing Institute at Udaipur has been raised to the level of a GNM institute. These measures increase training opportunities for prospective nurses and contribute to meeting the increasing demand for qualified healthcare professionals.

Dr. Saha underlined the large number of Tripura youth pursuing nursing professions both within India and overseas, evidence of the growth in respect for the profession as well as openings.

The drive to recruit personnel is part of a larger scheme to build Tripura's health infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and acknowledge the invaluable contributions nurses make to society.
