United Spirits to Close Hyderabad Facility Amid Strategic Shift

United Spirits Limited (USL), a Diageo subsidiary, has decided to close down its Nacharam manufacturing unit in Hyderabad by July 31, 2025. The 1970-established facility has been struggling with high cost of operations and changing market conditions, making it non-viable despite heavy investments in expansion and optimization. The closure is part of USL's multi-year supply chain agility program, which was launched in January 2023, to improve operational efficiency. The company has given a Voluntary Separation Scheme to all 192 employees, which has been embraced by the union of workers. The strategic shutdown demonstrates the resolve of USL to adjust to shifts in market trends and optimize its operations.
