UPI Soars to Dominance: Capturing 83% of India's Digital Payments in Just Five Years

India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been the new state-of-the-art digital payment system in India, dominating 83% of total digital transactions in 2024. Transaction volume of UPI has reached an all-time high, from 34% in 2019 to a massive 208.5 billion transactions over the past five years, a phenomenal move to real-time payments. This growth reflects the central role UPI plays in financial inclusion and the transformation of the payment ecosystem in India, making it a global leader in digital transactions.
