Vegetable Prices Soar: Economic Survey 2024-25 Highlights Impact of Uneven Monsoon on Consumer Costs!

The Economic Survey 2024-25 was released by the Government of India on January 31 before the Union Budget. The survey revealed that the irregular patterns of monsoons have resulted in the massive rise in the prices of the vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, and potatoes that have further pushed up the food inflation rate. The average food inflation rate for the first three quarters of FY 2024-25 stood at 6.5%, which is 1.9% lower than the previous rate. Further, the survey was also expecting GDP growth to rise to 6.4 percent in the upcoming fiscal year due to continuous economic challenges and requirement of structural reforms.
