Worst Time for Writers': 'Stree 2' Writer Calls Out Bollywood's Creative Stagnation

Niren Bhatt, writer of the hit film 'Stree 2', has criticized Bollywood's reliance on remakes, calling it a symptom of a broken system. Speaking at the 7th Indian Screenwriters Conference, Bhatt revealed that 23 out of 25 post-pandemic remakes have flopped, highlighting the industry's creative stagnation. He emphasized that this is the worst time for writers in Bollywood, with a dearth of original stories. Bhatt called for disruption in the industry, stating that "only disruptors will survive, and writers are the biggest disruptors." His comments come as 'Stree 2' continues to break box office records, grossing over ₹837 crore worldwide.
