2,000 Indians Trapped in Myanmar's Cyber Scam Web: A Growing Crisis

Nearly 2,000 Indians are currently entangled in cybercrime operations in Myawaddy, a lawless region near the Myanmar-Thailand border. Many were lured by fake job offers and are now forced to conduct online fraud targeting victims in India and the US. While some have been rescued, the true scale of the crisis is alarming. Thai authorities have cut off electricity and internet to key areas, responding to global pressure. Indian officials are working to evacuate those seeking help, but the situation remains perilous. Since June 2022, over 600 Indians have been rescued from scam operations across Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand.
