Air India Makes History with GDP Certification for Cargo Business, Boosting Pharma Logistics

Air India has emerged as the first Indian carrier to receive the coveted Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its cargo operations from SGS. This international benchmark confirms Air India's high standards in handling, storage, and transportation of temperature- and time-sensitive pharma shipments, cementing its focus on world-class pharma logistics. In FY 2024-25, Air India transported over 4,000 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, connecting sanctioned domestic gateways like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Goa to major international hubs like New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam.

 

The certification was the outcome of a rigorous audit of Air India's quality systems, temperature-controlled warehousing, and staff training. Through this achievement, Air India solidifies India's image as a significant exporter of medicines, guaranteeing partners around the world the quality and safety of every consignment.
