Expanding Southeast Asia Network And Strategic Importance
Air India's new Manila route further deepens the airline's footprint in Southeast Asia, where it now serves eight destinations across seven countries. This non-stop service greatly reduces travel time and hassle for Indian and Filipino passengers by eliminating the need for layovers.
The Philippines has recently introduced visa-free entry for Indian tourists for up to 14 days, a move expected to boost leisure travel. Popular destinations like Boracay, Palawan, and Cebu are now more accessible to Indian travelers.
Business And Tourism Impacts

It caters to the rising outbound travel demand from India, where travellers rank among the highest global spenders in tourism.
-
Air India positions itself as a key facilitator for new economic and cultural collaborations between the two countries.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson emphasized the strategic intent of enhancing non-stop global connectivity, highlighting how this route reinforces Air India's role in linking India to more global destinations with convenience and world-class service.
This launch complements Air India's broader international expansion plan for 2025, which includes upgrades across key routes in Southeast Asia and Europe to offer premium travel experiences with a modern fleet and improved frequency.
