AM/NS India Commissions Galvanising Line At Hazira To Boost Automotive Steel Output

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has commissioned a new Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) at its flagship Hazira plant in Gujarat, marking a major milestone in its automotive steel expansion strategy. The facility is part of the Cold Rolling Mill 2 (CRM2) complex and is designed to meet rising domestic demand for high-strength, coated steel.

Production And Technical Highlights

- The CGL will produce advanced automotive-grade steel with strength levels up to 1180 MPa  
- It complements a second unit, the Continuous Galvanizing and Annealing Line (CGAL), also set to be operational in 2025  
- Both lines embed proprietary technologies from ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, enabling production of globally recognised offerings like Optigal and Magnelis  
- The facilities will reduce India’s reliance on imported high-end steel and support the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative
